Anticosti

I normally don't say anything about what I am working on, but today I booked a week on Anticosti Island and am pretty excited about it. I have 4 books to finish prior to working on this one, but it all, somehow, feels doable. The Anticosti novel is a YA, set during WWII on this, as far as I can tell, little known island in the middle of the St. Lawrence. I managed to secure some funding for it, thanks to the Ontario Arts Council, which means the whole family is coming along.

I've never done research before. I mean, I have been snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing for years. I DJ'd for a few years around University as well. And, on a trip, we stopped in Plattsburgh, NY which is kind of Resurrection Falls which has featured in a number of my books. But with this particular story, I felt I needed to go to the island, see the sights, figure out routes and get a real sense of the place and geography. It is so unique that I wanted to make certain I portrayed it well.

So, we're all excited by that.

First, though, I need to finish this adult PI novel and a new YA thriller (both yet unnamed). I need to write the Limelights Violin book and finish the endlessly going back to 'Freaks' which isn't even called that any longer. Then there are the edits for Set You Free which I'm certain will be coming my way soon. I really do like to have more than one thing on the go at a time, but when the beginning of July comes around and we head off to Anticosti, I want to be done all these projects so I can focus on this one book.
